G is for...

 Ganesha

Ganesha is the elephant Hindu god of overcoming obstacles. He is said to bless new opportunities and is prayed to before the start of a new journey. I find this symbol, for that's what it is to me, quite appropriate for a journey of lost faith and self-discovery. On my trip to India, a purchased a marble statue of Ganesha. While I don't necessarily believe in Ganesha's ability to help me overcome the obstacles of my eminent ostracization from my family, Ganesha provides perspective. A new way of thinking. He was also murdered by his father. At least I don't have to worry about that...
